Buffer Pool Weekly Report: Jan. 5 - 12, 2026

From Jan. 5 to Jan. 12, the Buffer Pool recorded positive performance indicators, supported by continued momentum from our new campaign with Bybit On-Chain Earn. Strong user participation drove sustained inflows and high minting activity, with mETH surpassing $500M+ in cumulative new mints since the campaign’s launch and daily inflows peaking at over 32,000 ETH on Jan. 6.

On the validator side, staking yield was temporarily impacted by an ongoing operator transition. As APY is calculated on a rolling basis, this is reflected in reported yields. The underlying validator set remains healthy, and staking yield is expected to normalize back to ~2% upon completion of the redelegation process.

Jan. 5 - Jan. 12: Key Takeaways

  • Total inflows: 51,564 ETH
  • Fast-withdrawal capacity on Aave: consistently above 70,000 ETH
  • Ethereum exit queue wait time: currently 1 day, reducing pressure on exiting validators to replenish the fast-withdrawal buffer
  • A current pool of 70,070 ETH is available for users to perform fast mETH withdrawals
  • Headroom measures liquidity relative to the buffer size and is currently at 12×

Last Week's Breakdown

  • 5 Jan: ~53 ETH inflow, 24 transactions

  • 6 Jan: ~32,721 ETH inflow, 42 transactions

About Our Buffer Pool Upgrade

The Buffer Pool upgrade allocates ~20% of protocol TVL to Aave as ETH supply, earning interest in addition to native ETH staking yield. This design uses Aave as a liquid backstop for the Buffer Pool, supporting efficient mETH-to-ETH redemptions, typically within ~24 hours under normal conditions.
